Millfields Park South

TOUR on Saturday 25 January 2014, 11am

Ever wondered how electricity gets from the power station into your home?

Curious about why power cuts happen and how they get fixed?

Ever wondered why we need such large infrastructure and what these “investment levies” on your energy bills are paying for?

Would you like to be able to understand how the lights stay on in London?

Come and see the work of the engineers at National Grid on Saturday 25th January 2014 at Hackney Substation.

National Grid are pleased to welcome members of the Hackney Society to their substation at Millfields Park South, Lower Clapton, Hackney. This facility is not normally open to the public and this is a unique opportunity to gain an insight into the workings of the high voltage transmission system in London. Hackney resident and heritage campaigner, James Watson and his colleagues, from National Grid’s London team will be on hand to deliver a “crash course” in electricity transmission and a guided tour of the substation will be provided. Electrifying and not to be missed!
