Come and see the work of the engineers at National Grid on Saturday 25th January 2014 at Hackney Substation.

National Grid are pleased to welcome members of the Hackney Society to their substation at Millfields Park South, Lower Clapton, Hackney. This facility is not normally open to the public and this is a unique opportunity to gain an insight into the workings of the high voltage transmission system in London. Hackney resident and heritage campaigner, James Watson and his colleagues, from National Grid’s London team will be on hand to deliver a “crash course” in electricity transmission and a guided tour of the substation will be provided. Electrifying and not to be missed!

VERY IMPORTANT

• Participants must register for this visit in advance by 19 January 2014.
• Visitors are required to bring a stout pair of shoes or walking boots. No trainers, sandals or slip-ons will be permitted.
• Hackney Substation is a LIVE, working, operational substation and safety instructions must be very precisely adhered to at all times.

FREE for Hackney Society members, £5 for non-members.
