The Stoke Newington CAAC have no objection to the proposals.

2020/4136 Ryans Bar, 181 Stoke Newington Church Street, N16 0UL Construction of a lower ground floor/basement, single storey rear extension to accommodate the relocation of the existing commercial kitchen from first floor level. Associated alterations and additions to existing extraction flue. Full Planning Permission (Claire Moore)

2020/4030 162 Stoke Newington High Street, N16 7JL The Change of Use from Retail to Two Self-Contained Residential Units. Full Planning Permission (Muhammad Saleem)

The Design and Access Statement and Drawings fail to adequately describe the current operational use of the portion of the site that is to be converted to residential use. As such The Stoke Newington CAAC oppose the loss of what we must presume is valuable retail ancillary storage as its removal will affect the viability of any retail operations at the promises in the future.

2021/0137 St Marys Church Stoke Newington Church Street, N16 9ES Erection of timber and fabric structure to the north of the Old Church to be used as community cultural events space; provision of timber decking to provide access path; provision of lighting Full Planning Permission (Gerard Livett)

The Stoke Newington CAAC supports the principle of a temporary external structure but notes there is no application form available and as a result no clear indication of how long the structure will be present. If it is to be there for more than a season or over the winter, then located on the north side of a building with much vegetation, the structure is likely to become quite dirty and a maintenance condition should be attached. Without drawings to illustrate the precise location of the structure and the seating and standing plans, the Operational Management Plan seems optimistic with regards to occupancy. We are also unable to assess if the northern part of the structure will impact graves. Overall the modest benefits seems to be slim and wonder if a better approach might be a shell theatre - a covered stage with open seating.

2020/3654 39 Newington Green, N16 9PR Installation of two CCTV cameras to the Chapel building and two CCTV cameras to the school house building Listed Building Consent (Gerard Livett)

The Stoke Newington CAAC are not convinced that the case is made for the need for this surveillance and do not believe such modest cameras will stop the types of loss alleged to be a risk. There is inadequate detail of conduit/containment and ancillary works although we note the proposed camera units are unobtrusive. However that fact gives rise to a concern that there is inadequate warning that the area is being surveilled. All four cameras will cover the public realm and there will be no way to pass alongside or in front of the church without being captured by the private system.
