Clapton CAAC objects to this application. Although as a design the proposal is acceptably within a contemporary style, it does not complement its setting. Its use of metal cladding - particularly on the rear elevation - and the dominant size of the front windows do not harmonise with the two types of older terrace - either the more elaborate Edwardian one on Chatsworth Road or the simpler style on Fletching Road. Additionally, it occupies virtually the complete back garden in contravention of the 50% rule and blocks the sightline along the back of the terrace when seen from South Millfields playing field.

While the short description on the Hackney website refers to the ereplacement with uPVC, the D&A statement specifies wooden sashes. Clapton CAAC suppports the timber replacement but would strongly object to uPVC as contrary to Hackney policy.

The unit itself is acceptable in size and if sufficiently dampened for sound would be acceptable. We draw your attention to the guarded nature of the Noise Report which did not conifdently assure the Council that the suppressed noise levels would be guaranteed. We support the submission made by the Hackney Society that Hackney should decide on a policy for heat-exchange units particularly when proposed for the front of buildings. Clearly there will be more such applications which should not be left to ad hoc determinations.

Clapton CAAC strongly objects to this aplication. This was a family home converted into an HMO without permission and which is seeking further expansion. Neighbours have suffered invasion of privacy at the rear of the property and this would be aggravated by the proposed rear extension with its flat roof and the possibility of its being used as a platform. The rear extension is out of keeping with others in the terrace. The roof lights at the front of the house look into houses on the opposite side of the Passage, infringing the right to privacy of householders there. Beyond that, the plans are inadequate and there is no D&A statement.

Clapton CAAC objects to this applicaton. The planning documents are lacking. While there is an existing Front Elevation there is no drawing of the Proposed Front Elevation. Judging from the Section, the proposal takes its height from its taller neighbour which is a building of a radically different style and size rather than from its neighbour to the right which is of the same style and lower in a terrace run of three similar buildings. The proposed mansard is over dominant.

Clapton CAAC objects to this application - as we have to its forerunner. Our objection remains that the roofs of the entire square are uniformly of slate unpunctured by roof lights. To permit roof lights would break the harmonious continuity of line and set an unfortunate precedent. The proposed rear roof lights will will be able to overlook the upper floors of neighbouring houses thereby affecting the amenity of their occupants.

The D&A statement claims that the proposed are 'similar in size and scale to the neighbouring propoerty'. What it fails to say is that they exceed the number of front lights in similar houses. Similarly, the matching two lights in the rear roof slope above the retained current dormer are excessive.
