Kingsland CAAC September 2021

Planning Applications for Kingsland CAAC meeting for 1 September 2021

2021/2311 136 Culford Road, N1 4HU Enlargement to single-story, lower ground floor rear extension together with the replacement of roof terrace with a flat roof and all associated works, the replacement of roof terrace double doors with reinstated timber sash windows, alterations to the rear elevation of the extension, and the creation of a rooflight. Householder Planning (James Clark)

We have no objection to this application and welcome the removal of the roof terrace.

2021/2174 Flat 301, Kings Wharf, 301 Kingsland Road, E8 4DS Taking off and replacing of external metal and timber cladding and refitting of balcony and walkway decking. Full Planning Permission (Raymond Okot)

No details are provided of the replacement "suitable noncombustible cladding" and how the overall scheme will look when completed. Possibly some of the information is given in the Kings Wharf Assessment which is listed in the covering letter but still not uploaded to the planning portal despite our request. We therefore object to this application.

2021/2074 41 Englefield Road, N1 4HJ Erection of a single storey outrigger extension at rear upper ground floor level. Installation of fixed window to side elevation and opening window to rear elevation. Householder Planning (Raymond Okot)

We do not object to the outrigger extension but consider that the design of the proposed metal window does not enhance the host building.

2021/2160 11 Balls Pond Road, N1 4AX Installation of new shopfront Full Planning Permission (Raymond Okot)

No objection.

2021/2441 55 De Beauvoir Road, N1 5AU Rear extension and external refurbishment works. Householder Planning (Erin Glancy)

We welcome some of the improvements to this property. However we are concerned at the potential light pollution from the new rooflights and the glazed roof to the extension. We are also concerned at the possible noise pollution from the two heat pumps located on the roof. While these may not be visible from De Beauvoir Road they will be quite obvious to the residents in the houses to the rear on Lawford Road. The replacement pond is interesting as an existing pond is not indicated on the drawings.

2021/2502 5 Kingsland Road, E2 8AA Advertisement consent for one internally illuminated LED digital advertisement. Advertisement Consent (James Clark)

No objection.

2021/2513 2 Orchard Mews, N1 5BS Replacement of existing single glazed timber windows with double glazed timber windows, installation of photovoltaic panels to the rear roof of the property, installation of air source heat pump, altering rear ground floor openings to bifold doors, erection of garden office and bike store to rear garden. Householder Planning (Raymond Okot)

We have concerns about this application. We question whether oak shingles are compatible with the architecture of the mews buildings and also the use of uPVC for the fascia rather than wood. No assessment is provided on whether a constant background noise level of 45dB would impact on their neighbours amenity. We note that the rear space is completely paved and suggest that the applicant takes the opportunity to install a permeable surface to allow rainwater to drain away more easily.

2021/2483 60 Englefield Road, N1 4HA Erection of a single storey ground floor extension; replacement of existing rear door with enlarged opening. Householder Planning (Danny Huber)

No objection in principle. However we are concerned about the proposed window to the out-rigger extension which looks incongruous with the original façade.

2021/1357 134 Tottenham Road, N1 4DY Replacement of existing front boundary treatment and alterations to front landscaping Householder Planning (Danny Huber)

We object to this application. The proposed railings and finials are not typical of the Conservation Area and should match those of the neighbouring houses at 138 and 142. As the main ground floor windows sit low down on these facades, placing a brick pier directly in front as this layout does, needlessly spoils the setting. 138,142 and 144, all have a metal back stay at this point, giving a better balance. At 146 and 148 there are no brick piers, just the metal railings. Completely covering the front garden with impervious slabs will not allow any surface water absorption and increase run off to the pavement.
