23 Horton Road, Hackney, London, E8 1DP
Installation of External Wall Insulation in white render finish to the rear; like-for-like replacement of windows and external doors with the upgrade of dmev ventilation in both kitchen and bathroom.
Objection. The DAS says that doors and windows will be replaced like-for like, but some of the existing windows are uPVC. There are no further details given. This is not acceptable, and needs more information. We also wonder about the efficacy of the proposed ventilation.

Replacement of existing timber single glazed sash windows with double glazed timber sash windows, and replacement of existing timber front entrance door and rear door with new double glazed timber doors.

2025/0154
47 Penshurst Road, Hackney, London, E9 7DT
Installation of one front roof light; like-for-like replacement of timber sash windows; installation of an air source heat pump and associated acoustic enclosure within the rear garden.
Comment. We have no objection to the rooflight or window replacement. However, the heat pump enclosure is massive and is almost at an industrial scale. Whilst it will help reduce the noise level, it is noticeable that it is situated as far as possible from the applicant’s house, but as close as is allowed to their neighbour’s. That does not seem to be a reasonable compromise.

_____
2025/0160
7 Cassland Road, London, E9 7AL
Erection of rear dormer window and excavation of basement level with associated lightwell to front and rear of the property
Objection. There is a substantial amount of detail missing, including material. The roof extension dormer window is too large and out of proportion. It is unclear how the new front or rear lightwells will be accessible for maintenance. It is not clear how deep the proposed basement will be excavated – although looking at the section, it seems as though there is not enough headroom for the proposed stairs. This is a massive excavation, so the lack of detail is worrying. Some of the bedrooms do not meet the national standard for space and the basement ones are unlikely to have insufficient natural light.

2025/0387
4 Graham Road, Hackney, London, E8 1BZ
Conversion of dwelling, from two units into three with no external works
The street scene details appear to have been granted in previous applications, although the DAS does not make this clear. It’s not clear why the FVA was included, but it gives an interesting insight into the developer.
_____
2025/0334
82 Eleanor Road (north), Hackney, London, E8 1DN
Proposed conversion of loft to habitable space, rear dormer and 2 no. rooflights to front roofslope
Objection. The DAS says the dormer will be inset to meet the SPD, but it’s too wide and too close to the ridge. We also feel that the front roof lights would look better if they were centered on the windows below.

_____
2025/0408
211 Richmond Road, Hackney, London, E8 3NJ
Roof conversion to create new bedroom and the installation of two rear dormer windows and one roof light to front elevation.
Comment. Externally we have no objection, but this application would benefit from more detailing. There is very little height in the roof space and we wonder if it is sufficient? The bedroom door appears to be only around 1.7m high.
