Shoreditch CAAC April 2022

Planning Applications for Shoreditch CAAC meeting for April 2022

2022/0390 360 Old Street, EC1V 9LT Erection of fascia and projecting advertisements; erection of awning; to facilitate a change of use from Class E to a hot food takeaway (sui generis). Full Planning Permission (Erin Glancy)

OBJECTION – the proposed external works (cladding / painting) would have a detrimental impact on a prominent building which whilst in poor condition contributes towards the character and appearance of the SSCA. There is also very little detail provided in terms of the proposed replacement shopfront which should be designed in light of the CA Shopfront Design Guide which the submitted proposal does not appear to have any regard to.

2022/0201 Second And Third Floor Flat, 131 Curtain Road, EC2A 3BX Creation of plant enclosure to roof level. Full Planning Permission (Erin Glancy)

Noted but no comment

2022/0655 Will Wyatt Court, 168 Pitfield Street, N1 6JP Application for fascia signs to be erected on the north, south and west elevations Advertisement Consent (Jonathan Bainbridge)

OBJECTION – the proposed signage is excessive in its size and brilliance, and overly prominent position which would have a detrimental impact on long views within the SSCA. Whilst the CAAC appreciates the need for building signage this should be integrated into the fabric of the building.

2022/0085 Djb Passports And Visas, 2 Long Street, E2 8HQ Erection of a part three-storey, part five-storey building over the existing car parking area to create 4 (2 x 2 bedroom and 2 x 1 bedroom) self-contained residential units (Use Class C3) together with ancillary uses. Full Planning Permission (James Clark)

2 Long Street (2021/0085) No objection, but recommend that the proposal is considered in parallel with the current application for the neighbouring site.

2022/0741 360 Old Street, EC1V 9LT Advertisement Consent for installation of signage. Advertisement Consent (Erin Glancy)

2022/0694 Neos Network Leftd, Quick House, 65 Clifton Street, EC2A 4JE Submission of details pursuant to condition 3a (Materials) attached to planning permission 2019/0462 Discharge of Condition (Barry Coughlan)

65 Clifton Street (2022/0694) OBJECTION – the CAAC objects to the change in facing material from the consented scheme which we consider represents a significant (and material) change that is not contextually appropriate for the site. We do not consider this change should be dealt with an a discharge of condition application.
