Clapton CAAC May 2022

Planning Applications for Clapton CAAC meeting for May 2022

2022/0755 188 Millfields Road, E5 0AR The amalgamation of the ground-floor and first-floor flats together with the construction of a infill extension, construction of a part single and part two-storey side extension, alterations to the fenestration and boundary wall and associated works. Full Planning Permission (James Clark)

No objection. This is a sensitive addition to rear and side elevations: importantly, the parapet line is unaffected.

2022/0985 Flat D, 97 Lower Clapton Road, E5 0NP Erection of a mansard roof extension Full Planning Permission (Monika Vistartaite)

Clapton CAAC objects to this application on the grounds that this would break the pattern of the terrace. The proposal is full width and infills the butterfly roof while the front parapet line will be broken.

2021/3571 Hackney Rhapsody, 1 Lower Clapton Road, E5 0NS Erection of single storey extension above no. 1 and -9-13 Lower Clapton Rd, and two storey extension above no. 3-7 Lower Clapton Rd to create 6 flats, with balcony and communal amenity space at second floor rear and associated works. Full Planning Permission (Micheal Garvey)

Clapton CAAC regards this as an intelligent design. We have a concern over the zinc-clad roof extension which is marginally overbearing as depicted in D&S figure 2.11. There is a degree of overlooking to the rear.

2022/0997 Flat C, 3 Thistlewaite Road, E5 0QG Construction of a rear roof extension. Full Planning Permission (James Clark)

Clapton CAAC objects to this application. The extension is full width and not set down from the ridge line. In sum, it is an over-dominant box dropped onto the rear slope.

2022/0383 Flat C, 56 Ickburgh Road, E5 8AD Erection of single storey outbuilding in rear garden and removal of existing tree Full Planning Permission (Danny Huber)

Clapton CAAC has no objection to this application.

2022/0850 42 Ickburgh Road, E5 8AD Installation of replacement windows. Householder Planning (James Clark)

Clapton CAAC has no objection to this application.

2022/0809 36 Clarence Mews, E5 8HL Replace garage door with side hung door and side light window Householder Planning (James Clark)

Clapton CAAC has no objection to this application.

2022/0794 11 Clapton Square, E5 8HP Proposed replacement of three number single glazed timber sash / casement windows to the attic floor level with new double glazed timber glazed sash / casement windows and associated leadwork. Full Planning Permission (Monika Vistartaite)

Clapton CAAC has no objection to this application.

2022/0795 11 Clapton Square, E5 8HP Proposed replacement of three number single glazed timber sash / casement windows to the attic floor level with new double glazed timber glazed sash / casement windows and associated leadwork. Listed Building Consent (Monika Vistartaite)

Clapton CAAC has no objection to this application.

2022/0665 77 Durlston Road, E5 8RP Erection of a rear roof dormer extension, elevational alterations comprising replacement of windows, alteration of rear windows, insertion of two roof lights and conversion of property from a single 5 bed dwelling into 1 x 1 bed and 1 x 4 bed flats Full Planning Permission (Danny Huber)

Clapton CAAC objects to this application. The D&S statement is insultingly minimal and does not acknowledge the rules of a Conservation Area. The loss of sash windows and the original door and the substitution of uPVC in each is unacceptable.

2022/0723 64 Durlston Road, E5 8RR Excavation of additional basement level below existing ground floor footprint and below the rear garden together with front and rear lightwells. Single storey side infill extension. Householder Planning (Monika Vistartaite)

Clapton CAAC has objected to this scheme before. The house has already been heavily extended and the proposal to create a cellar under the garden will eliminate any possibility of planting thereby effectively eliminating green space - contrary to policy.

2022/0820 17 Clapton Terrace, E5 9BW Erection of new front garden wall comprised of brickwork and cast iron fence toppers. Full Planning Permission (Gerard Livett)

Clapton CAAC has no objection to this application.

2021/3558 40 Lea Bridge Road, E5 9QD Erection of single storey ground floor side and rear extension, conversion from single dwelling into two flats Full Planning Permission (Micheal Garvey)

Clapton CAAC has no objection to this application.

2022/0958 104 Lea Bridge Road, E5 9RB Installation of replacement windows and doors. Full Planning Permission (James Clark)

Clapton CAAC objects to this application. The D&S claims the property is not in an Conservation Area, but this is not true: it is within the Leabridge CAAC. We object to the substitution of iPVC for wooden sashes and doors. Looking at Google Streetscene fromMarch 2021, it appears that the windows have already been replaced. If that is the case, we would urge restitution of woodwork to replicate the original.

2022/0601 Blocks 20-25, Lathams Yard Harry Zeital Way, E5 9RE Replacement of timber cladding, timber decking and timber soffits on Blocks 20-25 of the Lathams Yard development Full Planning Permission (Danny Huber)

The woodwork facia is shabby and streaked. Whether 'fibre cement wood effect' would be a suitable replacement we leave to the expertise of the Planning Department.

2022/1102 13 Amhurst Road E8 1JB Installation of one internally illuminated fascia sign and one externally illuminated projecting sign. Advertisement Consent (Catherine Nichol)

Clapton CAAC has no obejction to this application.

2022/0668 14 Sutton Square, E9 6EQ Erection of a single-storey ground floor rear extension, erection of dormer roof extension with rooflight and double glazed replacement sash windows and doors. Householder Planning (Raymond Okot)

Clapton CAAC objects to this application. The steeply-raked rear roof is a distinguishing feature of the original design and breaking the slope would be to the detriment of the clean lines.

2022/0676 85 Cazenove Road, N16 6BB Erection of a double-height extension at basement and ground floor levels to the rear of the existing Synagogue (Use Class F). Full Planning Permission (Alix Hauser)

Clapton CAAC strongly objects to this application. This is a monstrously large extension which occupied most of the garden. Permission was granted for a 4.5 metre extension (2014/1919). The owners ar now asking for 11.579 metres!!

2022/0686 165 Osbaldeston Road, N16 6ND Excavation of basement and formation of a rear lightwell, erection of a two storey rear extension at basement and ground floor Householder Planning (Danny Huber)

Though this is a vast improvement on the earlier application so far as the rear roof line is concerned, Clapton CAAC objects to the rear extension of 5 metres against the 3 metre norm within a CA.

2022/0977 185 Kyverdale Road, N16 6PQ Certificate of Lawful Development Existing/Proposed (Gerard Livett)

Clapton CAAC has no objection to this application.

2022/1062 30 Belfast Road, N16 6UH Construction of a rear roof extension together with the installation of the rooflights to the front roofslope. Householder Planning (James Clark)

Clapton CAAC objects to this application. Although it is inset by 300 mm from the party walls, the proposal remains a large box which elimimates the rear roof slope. There are no similar extensions in the terrace. The joint roof extension at 42 and 44 are in proportion with their host buildings.

2022/0147 Block C, 25 Belfast Road, N16 6UN Erection of an outbuilding for use as a UKPN Integral Substation. Full Planning Permission (James Clark)

Clapton CAAC has no objection to this application.

2022/0716 First Floor And Second Floor Flat, 19 Kyverdale Road, N16 7AB Removal of the existing windows in the bay of the front elevation at first floor level and replacement with timber casement windows to match the originals Full Planning Permission (Raymond Okot)

Clapton CAAC has no objection to this application.

2022/0761 54 Osbaldeston Road, N16 7DR Erection of side and rear dormer window; insertion of two rooflights in front roofslope and provision of front turret Householder Planning (Gerard Livett)

Clapton CAAC strongly objects to this application. The two box-like elements - rear and side - break the line of the roof slope. The rear extension is not within the roof slope and is visible from the front street. There is no attempt to create an integrated design with rear dormer that complies with the Residential Extension Guidelines

2022/0875 14 Sanford Terrace, N16 7LH Erection of single-storey rear extension at ground floor level; replacement of existing flat roof and guttering; erection of new parapet wall to kitchen outrigger; new rooflight to rear outrigger at ground floor level; replacement paving to front entrance; internal alterations including new gas fire-place to ground and first floor front lounge within the existing chimney breast; replacement of fireplace surroundings to first floor front room with new painted timber surrounding. Listed Building Consent (Gerard Livett)

Clapton CAAC objects to this proposal. The rear elevation fails to integrate the three quite distinct elements: the original brick on the right; the tall central glassed area; and the composite brick and glass left-hand third. Clearly, the aim is to have a single line at roof level but there is no harmony in the disposition of space and materials.
