2017/1906 48-50 Oldhill Street N16 6NA Demolition of existing building and redevelopment of site to provide a part 2 part 3 storey building comprising 44.5 sq.m commercial space at ground floor level, 1 x 1 bed flat and 1 x 2 bed house. Proposal includes terrace at second floor level and green roof. (Louise Smith 0208 356 8061)

The Clapton CAAC notes there is a lot of detail yet to be resolved (the Design and Access statement is particulalry vague) and that the design generally could be more coherent and better thought out. We encourage the applicant to resolve more of the design detail prior to approval approval or failing that, recommend that a more detailed material schedule be reserved by condition.


2016/2610 66 Osbaldeston Road N16 7DR Erection of single storey ground floor rear extension. (Catherine Slade 020 8356 8056)

The Clapton CAAC has no objection to the proposal.


2017/1775 47 Reighton Road E5 8SQ Erection of single storey rear extension (Sissi Yang 02083561352)

The Clapton CAAC has no objection to the proposal.


2017/1574 91 Lower Clapton Road E5 0NP Change of use of ground floor from retail (use class A1) to a nail and beauty salon (Sui Generis use). (Micheal Garvey 020 8356 8053)

The Clapton CAAC has no objection to the proposal but recommend that a condition be added to ensure there is no amalgamation with the adjacent unit (which is in the same use) in order to preserve the grain of the street.


2017/1557 31 Mehetabel Road E9 6DU Single storey rear extension, two rooflights within main roofslope, one rooflight within roof of outrigger, replacement and enlargement of rear ground floor window and insertion of new window at second floor level with main rear wall of house and outbuilding to be situated within rear garden. The Clapton CAAC has no objection to the proposal.


2017/1855 & 2017/1868 408 Mare Street E8 1HP Erection of rear roof extensions, elevational alterations and conversion of the upper floors from a betting office (use class A2) to a 4 bed self-contained dwelling (use class C3). (Micheal Garvey 020 8356 8053)

The Clapton CAAC objects to the proposed roof extension which fails to preserve the character and harms the coherence and value of the group at 404-414 Mare Steet.


2017/1437 56 Alkham Road N16 6XF Enlargement of existing basement to create an additional residential unit (C3) and associated front and rear lightwells. (Nick Bovaird 0208 356 8291)

This application fails to overcome the concerns the Clapton CAAC raised in the refused application (2016/4136): "We note this application is outside, albeit adjacent to the Conservation Area. However we also note the proposal seeks to introduce a basement extension in a housing stock type where there are presently none established, contrary to paragraphs 4.2 and 4.4 of the Residential Extensions SPD."


2017/1570 394 Mare Street E8 1HP Change of use from retail shop (use class A1) to restaurant (use class A3) and erection of an extract flue to south elevation (Toyin Omodara 0208 356 8095)

The Clapton CAAC object to the proposed location of the flue, which will be highly visible.


2017/2180 86 Reighton Road E5 8SG Subdivison of dwellinghouse into a 3 self-contained residential units; excavate lower ground floor level to create a front (including associated stairs) and rear lightwell; erection of a single storey mansard roof extension; erection of a single storey rear extension; replace uPVC window frames with timber and exterior changes. For the purposes of consultation only, the proposed accommodation comprises 1x 1, 1 x 2 and 1x 3 bedroom units. (Catherine Slade 020 8356 8056)

If the principle of allowing roof extensions in this relatively unaltered roofline is accepted by the LPA (by way of precedent), the Clapton CAAC would, on balance, prefer to see a more traditional form and scale of mansard roof at this point in the terrace than the small box that is proposed.


2017/2224 2 Millfields Road E5 0SB Erection of single-storey rear/side extension at first floor level, including external balcony to front and fire escape to rear with spiral stairs to ground (Tim Wild 0208 356 8253)

The Clapton CAAC has no objection to the proposal.


2017/1878 11 Kenmure Road E8 1JU Erection of a rear roof dormer extension to create an additional storey at second floor level and installation of roof lights to the front roof slope. (Alix Hauser 020 8356 6377)

The Clapton CAAC has no objection to the proposal.


2017/2203 St John at Hackney Church Lower Clapton Road E5 0PD Reinstatement of door opening with new glazed timber door with render infill over to northeast portico, installation of new glazed timber doors with render infill over to southeast portico and installation of new wrought iron gates to all secondary portico entrances (Toyin Omodara 0208 356 8095)

The Clapton CAAC has no objection to the proposal in principle but note the gates form a significant gap between the ground and the bottom edges of the railings, which should be reduced.
