2020/0987 St John At Hackney Church Lower Clapton Road E5 0PD Installation of 10 number demountablet trough bollards on existing parking spaces in the north-west coner of the grounds of St John-at-Hackney Church. (Alix Hauser 020 8356 6377)

The Clapton CAAC has no objection to the proposal though we question the offset layout of the bollards and wonder if there isn't a better way of preventing unwanted use that creates less visual clutter.

 

2020/0920 14 Sutton Place E9 6EH Demolition of part of existng closet wing at lower ground and ground floor levels to reduce depth and erection of singe storey rear extension at lower ground floor level. (Alix Hauser 020 8356 6377) and 2020/0937 14 Sutton Place E9 6EH External alterations including demolition of part of existing closet wing at lower ground and ground floor levels to reduce depth; removal of window and enlargement of opening in rear wall at lower ground floor level and erection of singe storey rear extension at lower ground floor level. The Clapton CAAC has no objection to the mass but objects to the form which is neither in keeping with the small glazing panes typical of the rear of this listed terrace nor sufficiently distinguished for it to stand on its own design merits.

 

2020/0435 and 2020/0441 354 Mare Street E8 1HR Change of use of ground floor from betting shop (sui generis) to restaurant (Use Class A3) with alterations to the internal layout and installation of extraction and ventilation equipment. (Claire Moore)

The Clapton CAAC has no objection to the proposal though the heritage assessment is inadequate and conservation officers should satisfy themselves that no valuable interior features are to be lost.

 

2020/0481 374 Mare Street E8 1HS Amalgamation of two units (A1 and A2) to create one large A2 unit and associated alterations to shop frontage, including replacement of windows and doors and relocation of existing ATM. (Claire Moore)

The Clapton CAAC has no objection to the proposal.

 

2020/0782 374 Mare Street E8 1HS Demolish lightweight lean to roof at the rear of property and construct new flat roof rear extension. Relocate existing fire escape stair to discharge onto new pathway to access fire refuge point with a fire rated enclosure at the rear of the property. (Claire Moore)

The Clapton CAAC has no objection to the proposal.

 

2020/0297 70-72 Cazenove Road N16 6AA Retrospective approval for awning and 8 air conditioning units (Fabian Culican 020 8356 4747)

The Clapton CAAC has no objection to the proposal.

 

2020/1104 8 Chardmore Road N16 6HX Removal of condition 6(Use of the front yard) attached to planning permission 2018/3972 dated 21/05/2019 as varied by ref 2019/2639 dated 12/09/2019. Effect of removal would be the use of the front yard. (Kelsi Bolstad 020 8356 4160)

The Clapton CAAC objections to the proposal. The ever-growing school has a substantial internal play area already. Whilst the school is opposite another school play area at Jubilee School, it's neighbour benefits from a purpose-built open area with no large facades in close proximity to exacerbate and reflect the noise nuisance - as at this site. It seems unlikely the restrictions on frequency and timings could be effectively enforced.

 

2020/0350 Lower Ground 52 Brooke Road N16 7RX Basement extension with front and rear lightwells to accommodate 1 x 3 bedroom flat, with changes at the front of the property to accommodate waste and changes to the gate/wall along the Brooke Road boundary. (Kim Aukett 020 8356 4740)

The Clapton CAAC previously (Feb 20) observed: "This proposal does not seem to overcome the previous reason for refusal on this already-overdeveloped site." The reduction in intensity of use since then is welcomed and leave it to officers to satisfy themselves this level of use is acceptable.

 

2020/0601 30 Forburg Road N16 6HS Change of use from B1(Office) at basement and conversion to a studio flat. (Micheal Garvey 020 8356 8053)

Whilst we have concerns as to the quality of the amenity the Clapton CAAC has no objection to the proposal on conservation grounds.

 

2020/0811 24 Osbaldeston Road N16 7DP Excavation to front garden to provide front light well, and enlarge existing basement (Micheal Garvey 020 8356 8053)

The Clapton CAAC has no objection to the proposal provided the Council is satisfied there is no harm to the adjacent street tree.

 

2020/0871 358 Mare Street E8 1HR Erection of a mansard roof extension on the main roof of the existng building, erection of a two storey rear extension plus a roof addition to provide enlarged residential dwellings comprising 3x2bed and 1x1bed, new front access and shopfront alterations. (Raymond Okot 020 8356 8080)

The Clapton CAAC has no objection to the principle of a mansard on this site but it should follow design guidance with a larger set back from the front to reduce its dominance. The cornice is a contrivance that further highlights the mass in its attempt to raise the parapet. Ultimately this critical detail needs more refinement.

 

2020/1087 53 Durlston Road E5 8RP Erection of single storey rear infill extension and fenestration changes and associated works (Thomas Bertwistle 020 8356 2532)

The Clapton CAAC has no objection to the proposal.
