WALK on Sunday 1 March 2015, 2pm

As part of local commemorations of the 100th anniversary of the First World War, this event offers the opportunity to be inspired, intrigued and entertained by tales about communities, families and individuals who lived in Lower Clapton and Homerton during the First World War. This walk will be guided by Julian Putkowski, a local military historian and broadcaster with an established interest in the not-so-great aspects of the Great War. He will be drawing attention to the sharply contrasting responses and experiences of folk whose sacrifice continues to be commemorated - and others who were damned and destroyed by the conflict. The walk is scheduled to begin at 2.00 pm in Wattisfield Road, opposite the Disabled Soldiers' Homes and will end at 3.30 pm outside Sutton House, Homerton.
